Friday night, Dave and Mel's house, Marc and Bernie and Dave and Mel and Emily played Ticket to Ride. It came down to a tie-breaker between Dave and Emily, but she had the longest rail, so Emily won. Those Days of Wonder guys sure know how to put together a fun game.
Game night at Dave and Mel's house tonight. The game: Illuminati: Crime Lords. Again! Dave won. Again!
Game night was at Marc and Bernie's house tonight, with Dave and Mel showing up for a game of Dante's Inferno. (from Twilight Games, who brought you the very fine Zombies!!! series) It was a quick race to the ninth circle of Hell, where Bernie confronted Lucifer and whupped his bright red ass, but good. Then Scott showed up, and we busted out the icehouse pieces from my Zendo box to play a bunch of rounds of Ice Towers. Bernie is really good at that one, too, but Scott seemed to keep up with her fairly well.
We neglected to report on last week's impromptu game night over at Huff's house. Phil was in town for the weekend (Phil and Marc ran the Austin Urban Challenge on Saturday), so we got everyone together to drink and play games. First was a quick round of Cube Farm, which Marc won due to luck and inebriety. Then Dave busted out the Bang cards, and things got ugly. I think Dave won as the Sheriff, but everything got a little hazy after that. There may have been more games played, but I don't remember anything.
Mel was sick, and nobody else showed up to Dave and Mel's house, so Bernie and Dave and Marc played a "short game" of Steve Jackson's new rule-fest, Illuminati: Crime Lords. Marc won the first "really short" game, but we kept playing up to eleven rackets, and Dave took the big prize after splattering the streets with the blood of the Old Family.
Man, I totally spaced on logging the last game night at Dave and Mel's. We had a couple of newcomers, so it was Dave, Mel, Marc, Bernie, and the new kids, Tatiana and Makail.
We combined the first Zombies!!! game set with the latest expansion, Zombies!!! 4, The End, which took a little longer to play than anticipated. Winner: the silent but crafty Makail used his pages (and mine!) to dispel the living dead.
Last night, I realized that the old table (that I used to use for a computer desk, so it's about that size, and has many stab wounds) that we have in the living room here is way too small for a game of any size, where you've got lots of cards and fiddly bits all over the place. So, I did a little bit of poking around on the webernets, and found this beautiful thing. Seems a little excessive, but damn. If we had the space...
At Marc and Bernie's.
Dungeoneer: Tomb of the Lich Lord, with Marc, Bernie, Dave, Mel, Scott, also Huff and Jay observing. Winner - Scott, playing the Necromancer. We decided that we like this game, and Mel suggested that we play it again next, so we don't have to spend an hour remembering how it works again. (I just discovered that there are a couple new expansion packs coming out next month, and I'm all atwitter.)
After Dave and Mel left, we busted out the Uno deck (and more whiskey), and things turned ugly pretty quickly. Bernie and Punk pretty much tied overall, and Jay made an impressive showing with somewhere around -1,000,286 points.
Bernie and I also played a quick game of Fightball before everyone showed up - I think we need to play some more to get the hang of it.
