Today, without thinking, I actually said, "Yeah, I don't really feel like I'm ready to really start running before doing three miles or so. It gets a lot easier after that." At least, it sounded like me saying that, anyway. Doesn't really sound like something that would ever come out of my mouth, though. We're up to about fifteen or sixteen miles a week now, and we've got about nine more weeks before the marathon. Totally insane.
I finished up my gig working on a Flash-based map kiosk thing for Handwire - who rule, by the way - a couple weeks ago, and now I'm doing some C programming for the first time in about a decade, building a demo app in BREW for a company back in San Francisco that my pal Emers8n hooked me up with, Gamut. It's taken a lot of work to not only get back into the lower-level stuff after being spoiled by Perl and company for so long, but the BREW environment and development kit is pretty unwieldy as well, so it took a few weeks to ramp up. It looks like it'll be pretty fun, though, and it sounds like if things go well, there's plenty more where that came from, so, woo!
Also, for some reason, I decided that the marathon training and the new job weren't enough to keep me busy, so I signed up for NaNoWriMo this year. I'm cranking out a ton of pure crap, but I've somehow been able to pretty much keep up with the schedule - I'm just under 15,000 words right now - and still manage to squeeze in all my chess games. Oh yeah, and I finished all the story missions and a bunch of sub-missions on the new GTA: San Andreas - I'm somewhere above 80% now, so hopefully I can make it to 100% before too long, so I can take a crack at Halo 2.
And yes, somehow I'm still managing to sleep every night. Completely wacky.
