A few days ago, I made the grave error of ordering Half-Life 2 from amazon. I realized the dual nature of this mistake when it showed up on my porch yesterday. First, I thought I could resist the temptation to installit "just to see for a minute", before finishing the work and writing that I had to get done today. I couldn't. Fortunately, the second part of my error surfaced shortly after - the CD that came in the box wouldn't work on my desktop PC, which is my primary gaming machine, but I knew it wan't bad, because it came up without a hitch on my laptop, which I use mostly for work, and really isn't suited to playing heavy games like HL2, anyway. It turns out, it's not a CD, it's a DVD, and there's no DVD drive on my gaming machine. This seems like a problem, but it was actually a blessing in disguise. Instead of getting sucked into Gordon's little nightmare world, I actually managed to get some stuff done, and kicked out three or four thousand words towards my NaNo goal. Just one more week, and then I can fully indulge in my digital debauch for a while. Oh, and, uh, work real hard!
Also, I think I'm catching a touch of dyslexia. That's a pain in the ass.
(November 23, 2004 12:45 AM)dyslexia has been shown to increase during times of stress... maybe it's just 'cause you've got a lot on your plate right now...
Posted by: brian on November 24, 2004 09:49 AMNo, it's been slowly creeping up on me in the last year or so. And surprisingly, I'm actually feeling less stressed in the last few months than I was before, when I wasn't doing jack but sitting around. Of course, that might just be the drugs talking...
